In my place of nest marauders
a bluebird came to roost

In this place abuzz with spring
loneliness crept in
like a catbird

It emptied out all the shared spaces
leaving one chair at the kitchen table
one warm body in the bed
It nestled into the delight of two
at the idle domesticities

leaving me
blue dusted
red chested
